Safety Is Not A Choice, It's A Responsibility We Owe To Ourselves And Those Around Us
This training program is intended to provide entry level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.
Training should emphasize the following contents;
Mandatory Topics – 12 hours
1. Introduction to OSHA/Local Government Agencies – 1 hour: overview of the policies and regulations set by these organizations to ensure the health and safety of employees in the workplace. Covers the purpose and scope of OSHA or local government agencies, including its role in enforcing occupational safety standards, inspecting workplaces, and providing education and outreach to employers and employees.
2. Managing Safety and Health – 2 hours: May include Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, job site inspections, accident prevention programs, management commitment and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, accident investigations, how to conduct safety meetings, and supervisory communication.
3. Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection – 1 hour
4. Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection – 2 hours
5. Electrical – 2 hours
6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – 1 hour
7. Materials Handling – 2 hours
8. Hazard Communication – 1 hour
Elective Topics - 10 hours
Must present at least ten hours of training on the following topics. At least five topics must be presented. The minimum length of any topic is one half hour.
a) Hazardous Materials (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations)
b) Permit-Required Confined Spaces
c) Lockout / Tagout
d) Machine Guarding
e) Welding, Cutting, and Brazing
f) Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
g) Bloodborne Pathogens
h) Ergonomics
i) Fall Protection
j) Safety and Health Programs
k) Powered Industrial Vehicles
Optional - 8 hours: Teach other general industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics. The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.
This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.
All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
