The Renovation and Demolition Safety course is designed to provide workers and supervisors involved in renovation and demolition activities with the knowledge and skills required to perform their work safely. This course covers the specific safety hazards associated with renovation and demolition and the measures that can be taken to minimize the risk of incidents.

Objectives:

  • To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of renovation and demolition safety
  • To teach participants how to identify and assess renovation and demolition hazards
  • To educate participants on the importance of following established safety procedures
  • To explain the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing renovation and demolition activities
  • To demonstrate the proper use of tools and equipment during renovation and demolition activities

  • Understanding of crane and derrick safety principles: The program covers the principles and practices of crane and derrick safety in the workplace, including the importance of protecting workers from crane and derrick-related hazards
  • Knowledge of crane and derrick safety regulations and standards: The program covers the latest OSHA regulations and industry best practices in crane and derrick safety, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
  • Ability to identify and assess crane and derrick hazards: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to identify potential crane and derrick hazards in the workplace and assess their level of risk.
  • Understanding of crane and derrick hazard control measures and procedures: The program covers various control measures and procedures for reducing or eliminating crane and derrick hazards, including how to develop and implement effective crane and derrick hazard control programs.
  • Knowledge of crane and derrick safety training and education: The program covers the importance of training and educating employees on crane and derrick safety, including how to develop and deliver effective crane and derrick safety training programs.

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

  • Introduction to Crane and Derrick Safety: Overview of crane and derrick safety in construction and industry, importance of safely operating and maintaining cranes and derricks, OSHA regulations and standards related to crane and derrick safety.
  • Types of Cranes and Derricks: Identifying different types of cranes and derricks (e.g. mobile cranes, tower cranes, derricks), understanding the capabilities and limitations of different types of cranes and derricks, assessing the risk of crane and derrick incidents.
  • Safe Operating Procedures: Proper setup, use, and maintenance of cranes and derricks, understanding and complying with OSHA regulations and standards related to crane and derrick safety, implementing safety procedures and protocols for crane and derrick operation.
  • Training and Education: Providing training for employees and contractors on how to safely operate and maintain cranes and derricks, promoting crane and derrick safety culture and awareness, encouraging active participation in crane and derrick safety management.
  • Crane and Derrick Safety Programs: Developing a crane and derrick safety program, implementing a crane and derrick safety program, monitoring and evaluating a crane and derrick safety program.
  • Special Topics in Crane and Derrick Safety: Managing crane and derrick safety in specific environments (e.g. indoor, outdoor), managing crane and derrick safety for specific industries (e.g. construction, manufacturing), managing crane and derrick safety for specific populations (e.g. temporary workers, youth workers).

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
