The Safe Scaffold Erection and Inspection course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the safe and proper erection, use, and inspection of scaffolds in the workplace. This course is essential for workers, supervisors, and safety professionals who are involved in scaffold work.

Objectives:

  • To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of scaffold safety
  • To teach participants how to identify and assess scaffold hazards
  • To educate participants on the importance of following established safety procedures
  • To explain the steps involved in erecting, using, and inspecting scaffolds
  • To demonstrate the use of proper equipment, such as fall protection systems and guardrails

  • Understanding of trench and excavation safety principles: The program covers the principles and practices of trench and excavation safety in the workplace, including the importance of protecting workers from trench and excavation-related hazards.
  • Knowledge of trench and excavation safety regulations and standards: The program covers the latest OSHA regulations and industry best practices in trench and excavation safety, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
    • Ability to identify and assess trench and excavation hazards: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to identify potential trench and excavation hazards in the workplace and assess their level of risk.
    • Understanding of trench and excavation hazard control measures and procedures: The program covers various control measures and procedures for reducing or eliminating trench and excavation hazards, including how to develop and implement effective trench and excavation hazard control programs.
    • Knowledge of trench and excavation safety training and education: The program covers the importance of training and educating employees on trench and excavation safety, including how to develop and deliver effective trench and excavation safety training programs.

    Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

    Training should emphasize on the following contents;

    • Introduction to Scaffold Safety: Overview of scaffold safety in construction, importance of safely erecting and inspecting scaffolds, OSHA regulations and standards related to scaffold safety
    • Types of Scaffolds: Identifying different types of scaffolds (e.g. supported, suspended, aerial lifts), understanding the capabilities and limitations of different types of scaffolds, assessing the risk of scaffold incidents.
    • Safe Erection and Inspection Procedures: Proper setup, use, and maintenance of scaffolds, understanding and complying with OSHA regulations and standards related to scaffold safety, implementing safety procedures and protocols for scaffold erection and inspection.
    • Training and Education: Providing training for employees and contractors on how to safely erect and inspect scaffolds, promoting scaffold safety culture and awareness, encouraging active participation in scaffold safety management.
    • Scaffold Safety Programs: Developing a scaffold safety program, implementing a scaffold safety program, monitoring and evaluating a scaffold safety program.
    • Special Topics in Scaffold Safety: Managing scaffold safety in specific environments (e.g. indoor, outdoor), managing scaffold safety for specific industries (e.g. construction, manufacturing), managing scaffold safety for specific populations (e.g. temporary workers, youth workers).

    This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

    All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
